Jaded Evidence — Facts Over Speculation

Two women were found shot to death in a north Travis County apartment. At first, investigators publicly considered a murder-suicide. Within two days, crime-scene evidence changed the case completely.

Anecia Kay Thacker, 37, and Lamonica Webb, 32, were found dead on September 23, 2026, inside an apartment in the 3400 block of Shoreline Drive in the Wells Branch area north of Austin. Both had suffered gunshot wounds.

What initially appeared capable of being explained as a murder-suicide became a double-homicide investigation after detectives obtained a search warrant and crime-scene specialists completed a more extensive examination. Authorities then arrested Michael Robinson, 24, and charged him with capital murder. He is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

September 23: two women found dead

According to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, an apartment manager arrived at the unit while serving a writ. The door was ajar. After announcing himself and receiving no response, the manager pushed the door open, saw a body, and called 911 at approximately 8:45 a.m.

Deputies found Thacker and Webb deceased inside the apartment. Early information from the scene led authorities to consider murder-suicide as a possible explanation, but investigators emphasized that other possibilities had not been ruled out.

The scene did not fit the first theory

After a search warrant was obtained, detectives and crime-scene specialists conducted a fuller examination of the apartment. The Sheriff’s Office later said investigators found evidence that contradicted the murder-suicide theory.

This is exactly why preliminary scene classifications should not be treated as final. Firearm location, wound trajectories, bloodstain patterns, cartridge cases, fingerprints, DNA, gunshot residue, digital evidence, and scene disturbance can materially change an interpretation once a scene is fully processed.

Michael Robinson arrested

On September 25, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office announced that Robinson had been arrested and charged with capital murder in both deaths.

Subsequent reporting based on an arrest affidavit states that Robinson allegedly went to the apartment after responding to an online advertisement for sex. Investigators reportedly linked communications and a phone number associated with the response to Robinson.

Robinson’s reported account

According to reporting on the affidavit, Robinson told investigators that both women pointed guns at him and that he fired in response. That account is an allegation and defense narrative, not an established fact. The physical evidence, autopsy findings, firearms evidence, digital records, and any witness evidence will be central to evaluating whether the forensic scene is consistent with his statement.

Why this case stands out

This case is a strong example of the danger of locking onto an early narrative. Two firearms near two deceased people can suggest one explanation at first glance, but the totality of the scene may tell a different story. The Sheriff’s Office specifically credited the subsequent search and crime-scene examination with revealing evidence inconsistent with murder-suicide.

That distinction matters. A murder-suicide classification can shape how evidence is interpreted, how families are treated, and whether investigators continue looking for another person. Here, investigators did continue.

The victims

Anecia Thacker’s family has publicly asked that she be remembered as a whole person rather than reduced to the circumstances of her death. Lamonica Webb was also an Austin resident and a victim in what authorities now classify as a double homicide.

Questions Jaded Evidence is watching

  • What specific physical evidence contradicted the initial murder-suicide theory?
  • What do the autopsies show regarding trajectories, range of fire, and sequence?
  • Whose DNA and fingerprints were recovered from each firearm?
  • Was gunshot-residue testing performed, and what were the results?
  • What digital communications place Robinson at the apartment?
  • How does Robinson’s self-defense account compare with the forensic reconstruction?
  • Will prosecutors continue to pursue capital murder as charged?

Jaded Evidence distinguishes allegations from established facts. Michael Robinson has been charged, not convicted. This page will be updated as court filings and forensic findings become public.
