ACTIVE HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION · TULARE, CALIFORNIA
Tulare Homicide Investigation
A reported assault at a party, a woman found fatally injured, and the arrest of Marcelo Rodriguez.
What police reported
Early on October 11, 2026, Tulare police responded to a report of domestic violence at a party. Investigators said a man had assaulted a woman and driven her away before officers arrived. About 90 minutes later, officers found an adult woman with significant injuries near Bardsley Avenue and Pratt Street. First responders attempted to save her, but she died.
Police connected the woman to the earlier call and identified Marcelo Rodriguez, 41, of Fresno, as a suspect. Detectives learned that California Highway Patrol officers had already detained Rodriguez in Kings County on suspicion of driving under the influence. Reporting attributed to police says CHP officers observed blood on Rodriguez and his clothing. Tulare detectives took him into custody and booked him on suspicion of homicide and related offenses.
Current legal status
The case was referred to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for review. Booking on suspicion of an offense is not the same as a filed charge or conviction. Rodriguez is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Important limits
The victim had not been publicly identified in the reviewed sources. Although police described the first call as domestic violence, the publicly available record did not establish the precise relationship between the woman and Rodriguez. The cause and manner of death, the source of the reported blood, and the statements or physical evidence cited by investigators have not yet been tested in court.
