ACTIVE CHILD-ABUSE CASE · LAFAYETTE COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI
North Oxford Daycare Child-Burn Investigation
A child’s reported foot burns, two arrests, and the distinction between criminal allegations and the daycare’s internal account.
Case details
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report on September 22, 2026, that a child had sustained burns to the feet at a daycare in Lafayette County. Local reporting identifies the facility as North Oxford Creative Learning Center. The child’s identity has not been published here.
Charges
- Olivia Mosely, 17: three counts of felonious child abuse; reported bond of $25,000.
- Rhina Delgado, 20: one count of misdemeanor child neglect; reported bond of $2,500.
Investigators obtained warrants on October 9, and both defendants appeared before a Lafayette County Justice Court judge. The charges are allegations. Neither arrest nor bond decision is a finding of guilt.
Daycare statement
The center told WTVA that it was cooperating with law enforcement and state authorities. It said its internal investigation concluded the injuries involved intentional conduct by former staff members. That statement is the facility’s account; it is not a court finding and does not replace the criminal investigation.
What is not yet established
The publicly available reports do not establish the precise mechanism of injury, the evidence attributed separately to each defendant, whether the matter has been presented to a grand jury, or a trial schedule.
